Shading:Usually, panels are affected due to the shadowing effect of nearby trees, buildings, compounding walls, cloudy weather or anything which can possibly cast a shadow on the panels. The shadowing effect reduces the amount of energy that is generated by the PV Panels. Thus, the lesser the shadow is, the more will be the energy!
Direction: For maximum output, PV Panels are installed facing South. PV Panels will have maximum exposure to sunlight when they are installed facing South irrespective of the time or month of the year as the sun is always inclined towards the South.
Angle: The location's latitude where the panel needs to be fixed is analyzed before installing the panels. Usually, the angle of tilt varies from 9-12 degrees in southern regions of India and between 25-30 in northern regions of India. To nullify the impact of high-speed winds on the installation, the angle can be decreased depending upon the altitude of the location of installation.
Warranty: A Generally, the maximum life of power generation systems is believed to be close to 25 years. Typically, solar panels come with a performance warranty of 25 years. However, other components of the solar generation system might come with lesser performance warranties.
Cleaning: It is a good practice to clean the panels once in every week. However, it is advised to clean the panels daily.
Structures: Raw Material, workmanship, and quality are key for installation of rooftop solar solutions. A mounting structure being a crucial component of the rooftop solar system is ideally examined and approved by a structural engineer. The weight of the PV System and mounting structure also needs to be taken into consideration depending upon the wind-speed zone and location. However, ready to install pre-certified structures are available in markets for specific wind speeds and are commonly incorporated in the design. Quality GI (Galvanized Iron) or Alluminium structures are used ensuring rust proof life.
Maintenance: A Maintaining the panels at regular intervals is advised as it will boost the performance and give maximum output. Maintenance services include timely inspection of all the components of the power generation systems.
Permits, Approvals & Subsidies: It is mandatory for the owner to follow the protocol and to complete all the formalities in case of installation of rooftop grid-tie solar power system and net- meter installed. No permissions are required for battery based systems. Additional documentation might be required to avail the subsidies offered by local government.
